Today, the popularity of the well-known CS is on the agenda 1.6.
Good afternoon, dear reader. Today I would like to tell you, how does the first of a series of online computer shooter feel in the current realities 2000 of the year, what is the popularity of CS 1.6 and did he sink in positions in comparison with modern analogues of such shooters.
The background of the game CS 1.6
I’ll start, perhaps, from prehistory. And it’s worth starting here, that counter-strike as a separate game did not appear immediately. It was originally released as a custom modification., designed by two enthusiasts, for the Half-Life game from Valve studio, published in 1999 year. The project is so interested in the founders of the company, that they soon hired both guys to their studio, buying their intellectual property rights. And already in 2000 a full-fledged part of the Counter-Strike series was released.
Development of CS popularity
A lot of players liked this shooter format, in which two teams (terrorists and special forces) oppose each other and the outcome of victory is determined by two factors: or the complete destruction of the opposing team, either planting a bomb and detonating it, or deactivating it. The game has become wildly popular right before our eyes.. To a large extent this contributed to, that there were only a few such projects at that time, and similar projects, where victory was achieved exclusively by the coordinated interaction of the whole team, and didn’t exist at the time. The development of this game and the genre as a whole was also greatly influenced by the development of computer clubs so popular at that time., which everyone could, in their free time from work or study, visit with friends and play several online matches.
Such a development of events could not but affect the world community as a whole.. This game very quickly took a strong position in eSports. For example, CS prize fund 1.6 in 2003 was 75 one thousand dollars.
Development of the KS series 1.6
After such a stunning success, it is not surprising, that the developers took up the continuation of the Counter Strike series. And already in 2004 year comes a new part called Counter Strike: Source. And again, like an older brother, released as an add-on to the game Half-Life 2, and later as a separate edition. The concept of the game remains the same, only the game engine has changed, and therefore graphics.
In general, this is still the same CS 1.6, therefore, it was generally warmly received by the gaming community, but what is remarkable, Fr. 1.6 has not lost its position against the background of the new game. It was connected, firstly, so, that the new engine required more powerful hardware, what not every player could afford, and secondly, it’s still the same cs 1.6, only in a new wrapper and slightly physics, what did not motivate most players to switch to a new-old game.
However, as is known, nothing is eternal, and therefore the beloved game did not pass, if I may say so, kind of oblivion. New online projects launched, more single interesting games appeared, and closer to the second decade of the year 2000, the game is already significantly outdated in terms of graphics, the prize pools of the game in eSports competitions have fallen significantly, only 15000 euro c 2012 year. All this pointed to the waning popularity of the COP. 1.6.
An increasing number of players were buying powerful hardware and, appreciating the charms of a beautiful picture, went to more colorful projects. So, For example, happened with counter strike. AT 2012 year, another sequel to the legendary shooter was released, where again, of the significant innovations, only improved graphics. And if with CS: Source’s more modern graphics didn’t work or cause a big churn away from the original Counter Strike, then already in 2012 a sufficiently large number of players switched to a new part of the game.
Total for the game Counter Strike 1.6
But here in the yard 2020 year. And who would have thought, What is Counter Strike 1.6 will continue to be popular and in demand among ordinary players ? Yes, in eSports, counter-strike has not been popular for a long time, but nonetheless, a very large number of players, not interested in receiving cash prizes, continue to hone their skills, punishing rivals. Numerous downloads of the COP testify to this. 1.6 and online players in all CIS countries (to 15 million launches of the game only on Steam daily !)
All this only points to the enduring popularity of Counter Strike. 1.6. After all, as expected, the original concept of the game came out the most successful, the simplest and most memorable, which makes many players return to this game even after many hours of gaming in more modern analogues of such online shooters.
